Today we protected and validated our spreadsheets

Today we were looking at if statements,datediff and where they can be used in various industrys,this was new information to me about excel but it was pretty simple to grasp.
By next lesson I hope to have caught up on the work I have missed in previous lessons.

Today we were conparing the advantages and disadvantages of various information systems.

Today we carried out research on Decision Support Systems and Executive information system it was very complex but we found various websites that helped explain what they are.

Today we learned about quality of data

As well as being:
accurate, up-to-date, complete,

Data must also be:
reliable
timely
accessible
relevant
understandable

Today we are searching for various types of fitness centres, sports clubs in our local area and what data we can get from them that will help us in our work.

Today in kevins lesson we produced a flow diagram on how information is passed between various departments.

We have moved on another unit about data comparision slightly more complex compared to the previous units but easy to grap once I read a few worksheets and visited websites.

My learning styles

I have identified my learning style from doing a memletics questionnaire below are my preferred learning styles:

Visual style

I prefer using images, pictures, colors, and maps to organize information and communicate with others

Social stylete well with people, both verbally and non-verbally. People listen to me or come to me for advice, and I am sensitive to their motivations, feelings or moods.

Aural style
Like to work with sound and music, have a good sense of pitch and rhythm.

Here i have identified my goals for the future for example short term ,medium term and long term.
Objectives - (short term) 6-12 months
Achieve overall merit on BTEC ND

In order to achieve this objective I will have to put lots of extra work in at home in my free time, this will mean less time to socialise etc but the benefits of putting in the extra work mean that I will have higher graded work that will allow me to apply for better university or even jobs.
Aims- (medium term) 2-5 years
Go onto higher education (university)

To achieve this aim I will have to achieve really good A-level’s at college the better grades I get decided whether or not I get into a good university or not, in order to get the good grades at college I will have to put in lots extra work in at home to push my grades up in return I would get more UCAS points.

What I would get out of going to university would be a more in depth knowledge of the chosen subject I would choose at university this would sallow me to get a better job when I leave university. To get to university would require lots of money so I would have to apply for various grants and work part time to cover the tuition fees, university would also take lots of time from 2 to 3 years but the benefits I would gain are worth it.

Ambition- (long term) lifetime
Get a job in ICT

To achieve this ambition I will have to work really hard through my college and university years to gain the qualifications that I need e.g. A-levels and Degrees, if I don’t work hard at college and university I will not get accepted for interviews at the preferred jobs I apply for so it’s very important that I concentrate on my work.
From the years of hard work at college and university I will be able to gain a highly paid job that will allow me live freely and progress up through the company I have chosen to work for.
